I will focus on somewhat random portions of the experience and will ultimately give a "WATCH" or "DON'T WATCH" rating. In getting to this conclusion I will follow no order, rhyme or reason.
HERE WE GO!
Most made me smile. Missed the cursing more than I thought I would. Linda Blair change to Russell Crowe LMAO. Why would they get rid of contractions? I dunno.. have more to say on this matter than I should.
Most were on point I think. I liked the random little additions like the EP sound in "A Part of That" for two seconds. The drums were overall a nice addition but I think I still prefer the more organic and bare arrangements without them.
Better than I thought they would be! The nice thing about this being a film is that the up close and personal nature of the medium let more of the lyrics come through. They both did a pretty good job I think. More on this for people who care...
JRB himself on the piano being like always with a face of "What asshole wrote this..." mixed with "I can't play this crap..."
MOST RANDOM PEEVE
The part where Cathy sings "Just close the gate..." WHAT GATE?! It's a movie! You could have shot it in a location that had a damn GATE!
Overall pretty good! Only wish the director would quit panning the damn camera so much. I get you had a small budget but simply moving the camera does not make it look fancier. Also, interesting choice making Jamie not just a cheater with Elise, but also with tons of hoes.
if you like musical theater. It has a great score and enough feels for you to both love and hate yourself for watching it. Then again, if you read this review you probably already watched it. Wasted your time huh?
if you care nothing for musical theater. Also, if you run away from your feelings this movie is probably not for you. Face it, you are the kind of person who makes fun of people who watch this stuff.
